Bihar recorded a historic voter turnout of 66.91% in the recent elections. The first phase achieved 65.08%—a record at the time—before the second phase surpassed it with 68.76%. Overall, turnout rose by 9.62 percentage points from 57.29% in the 2020 Assembly elections.

Historical data reveals that in Bihar, a voter turnout increase exceeding five percentage points has led to a change in government three times.

According to the Election Commission, postal ballot counting will begin first, and counting of EVMs will start at 8.30am. "Adequate number of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and personnel of the Bihar Police have been deployed across the state to ensure smooth counting, and prevent any untoward incident," a senior officer said. He said 106 companies of security personnel from outside the state have also been deployed.

"Counting has been arranged for all 243 assembly constituencies. The process will be overseen by 243 Returning Officers, in the presence of 243 Counting Observers and candidates or their agents. A total of 4,372 counting tables—each equipped with one supervisor, one counting assistant, and one micro-observer—have been established. Over 18,000 Counting Agents appointed by the candidates will also monitor the proceedings," the Election Commission said in a statement.

Vote counting will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday.
