Bihar polls: PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi to address rallies this week

Poll-bound Bihar’s Muzaffarpur and Chhapra will witness rallies being addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday; Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi are also set to head to Bihar for as many as 15 rallies

PM Modi had kicked off the NDA campaign for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections by addressing rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai on October 24; while Rahul Gandhi began his campaign with two rallies in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga on Wednesday


Bihar, the hot seat of action ahead of the assembly elections, will see multiple rallies being addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as by the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, in this week. 


Prime Minister Modi said he will address two rallies in Muzaffarpur and Chhapra on Thursday, October 30. 


“In this atmosphere of enthusiasm, I will have the privilege to interact with the public at around 11 AM tomorrow in Muzaffarpur and at 12:45 PM in Chhapra,” he said.


Expressing confidence in the victory of the BJP-NDA, the Prime Minister said his “family members” are contesting in the elections, and that he is confident that his party’s triumph is imminent. 


“My family members in Bihar are themselves contesting in the elections to ensure a huge victory for BJP-NDA,” he said in a post on X.


“I am confident that in the assembly elections, my brothers and sisters of the state will once again herald a grand victory,” the prime minister said.

PM Modi had kicked off the NDA campaign for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections by addressing rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai on October 24.


Meanwhile, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will also be on Ground Zero this week, with reports claiming the two will address as many as 15 rallies in all.


Congress party sources said on Wednesday that senior party leadership, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Kanhaiya Kumar, and Independent MP Pappu Yadav are among the 40 star campaigners for the first phase of the Bihar assembly polls.


While Rahul Gandhi began his campaign with two rallies in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga on Wednesday, he will soon be joined by Priyanka, who is presently in Wayanad.


Kharge, who recently underwent a pacemaker implantation procedure, is set to address three rallies in Bihar along with a few press conferences as well, party sources said.


Others on the list of campaigners in the crucial Hindi heartland state include the Congress party’s Bihar affairs in-charge, Krishna Allavaru; its state unit chief, Rajesh Ram; Congress general secretaries K C Venugopal, Bhupesh Baghel, Sachin Pilot, Randeep Surjewala and Syed Naseer Hussain; as well as senior leaders Ashok Gehlot, Tariq Anwar, Gaurav Gogoi, Mohammad Jawed and Akhilesh Prasad Singh.

 

In a post on X, Venugopal said, “The Mahagathbandhan rallies in Sakra and Darbhanga today, under Rahul Gandhi ji and Tejashwi Yadav ji’s leadership, has set the tone for an electrifying campaign to usher in a pro-people government that replaces the corrupt, communal and criminal NDA government currently in power.” 


“We are receiving more and more support from every segment of society with every passing day, and we are set for a solid victory in the upcoming elections!” he added.


Polling in Bihar will be held on November 6 and 11, and results will be announced on November 14.


The opposition INDIA bloc, which has the RJD, Congress and Left parties as the main constituents, has declared RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav its chief ministerial candidate for the Bihar polls.
