Hyderabad-based Ananth Technologies Private Limited has announced plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh to establish a state-of-the-art facility for manufacturing missiles and kamikaze drones in Dutthaluru, located in Nellore district. According to officials, the state government has already identified approximately 300 acres of land for the project. The proposed facility will undertake manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing of missiles and loitering munitions — commonly referred to as kamikaze or suicide drones. The project is expected to generate direct employment for nearly 750 people.

The company plans to execute the project in two phases. The first phase will involve an investment of Rs 300 crore and is projected to create around 200 jobs. The second phase, with an investment of Rs 700 crore, is expected to provide employment to an additional 550 people.

Officials indicated that the first phase is likely to be completed within 24 months, while the second phase will take up to 48 months, beginning from the completion of land acquisition and the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals.

As part of its proposal, the company has requested the allocation of 75 kiloliters of water per day from the Gandipalem Reservoir. It has also sought the construction of an approach road linking National Highway 565 to the project site to facilitate logistics and connectivity.

In addition to manufacturing new systems, the company plans to refurbish and upgrade around 800 aging or expired missiles, restoring them to operational status using advanced technologies. The facility is also expected to produce up to 4,000 loitering munitions annually across both phases.

Loitering munitions, often described as ‘suicide drones,’ represent a significant advancement in modern warfare technology, combining surveillance and strike capabilities. Their increasing adoption underscores the ongoing technological transformation in the defense sector.

The proposed investment is seen as a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s industrial and defense manufacturing ecosystem, potentially strengthening its position in India’s growing aerospace and defense sector.
