The Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, on a visit to Australia, met and held discussions with the Acting Commander, Forces Command and the Commander of the 2nd Division of the Australian Army.
“The engagements focused on strengthening bilateral training cooperation, enhancing interoperability, and exploring new avenues of collaboration, including niche and emerging technologies. Comprehensive briefings and professional exchanges reflected the shared operational ethos of both armies and a forward-looking approach to capacity-building,” read the official ‘X’ handle of the Indian Army.
“The visit reaffirmed the growing India-Australia defence partnership and a mutual commitment to deeper military-to-military engagement,” the post further read.
India and Australia's defence relations were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in 2020. The forces of both nations are engaged from time to time through Exercise AUSINDEX (maritime) and Exercise AUSTRAHIND (land).
Both are also key partners in the QUAD grouping.
