Bengal leading with 69.9% voter turnout till 5pm

The final phase of Lok Sabha polls 2024 for 57 seats saw a voter turnout of 58.34% till 5 pm, according to the Election Commission (ECI) with West Bengal leading with 69.89% voter turnout.

ANI stringer suffers injuries in West Bengal's Canning while covering elections.

Bunty Mukherjee, a stringer associated with ANI, sustained a serious head injury amid a clash between TMC and BJP supporters in Canning, under the Jaynagar Lok Sabha constituency of West Bengal. Mukherjee was reporting on the final phase of polling when the incident occurred.

As of 1 pm in the 7th phase of elections, the voter turnout stands at 40.09%.

As of 11 am in the 7th phase of elections, a 26.3% voter turnout has been recorded across the states.

Polling begins in East Indian states

In the final phase, four East Indian states will vote: Jharkhand (3 of 14 constituencies), Odisha (6 of 21), Bihar (8 of 40), and West Bengal (9 of 42).

With the conclusion of the first six phases of the Lok Sabha elections, the fate of 487 out of 543 constituencies has been sealed.

Voting has concluded in several states and union territories, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Karnataka, Mizoram, Haryana, Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh, Telangana, Nagaland, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, Diu, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry. The election results will be announced on June 4, 2024.
