The Reliance Industries’ annual general meeting on Friday saw the conglomerate’s chairman, Mukesh Ambani, announce the company’s foray into Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the launch of Reliance Intelligence.
The new wholly-owned subsidiary will provide ‘AI for everyone, everywhere’, said the company honcho.
Reliance Intelligence will build gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centres that are powered by green energy and engineered for training and inference at a national scale, Ambani said at the meeting, adding that work on the AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar, Gujarat, already in progress.
“A decade ago, digital services became a new growth engine for Reliance. Now, the opportunity before us with AI is just as large, if not larger. Jio promised and delivered digital everywhere and for every Indian. Similarly, Reliance Intelligence promises to deliver AI everywhere for every Indian,” he informed the audience.

Describing the “miraculous power” of AI as a new 'Kamdhenu' (the divine wish-fulfilling cow), Ambani said the powerful trio of breakthroughs in clean energy, genomics, and AI was “changing the global narrative to one of superabundance and super affordability”.
With promises to deliver “trusted, easy-to-use AI services” for one and all at “affordable” prices, the chairman said Reliance Intelligence will “bring together tech titans from across the world to open-source communities” to offer solutions for sectors of national importance, including education, healthcare, and agriculture.
Elaborating on the four missions of Reliance Intelligence, Ambani said it will house India's next-generation AI infrastructure and global partnerships, build AI services for India, and foster AI talent.
"Reliance Intelligence will create a home for world-class researchers, engineers, designers, and product builders, combining the speed of research with the rigour of engineering, so that ideas become innovations and applications, providing solutions to consumers, small businesses, and enterprises in India and the world," he said.
While the gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar will be delivered in phases aligned to India's growing needs, they will be powered by Reliance's “new-energy ecosystem, and custom-made for AI training and inference," he added.
