Residents of Jharkhand, much like their counterparts in other states, share certain expectations for the Union Budget 2024. The middle class is keen on tax rebates and a reduction in the prices of essential commodities like petroleum products, food items, medicines, and educational electronic gadgets.
On the business front, there's an anticipation for significant developments in the mining sector. The reopening of closed iron ore mines since April 2020, along with the renewal of old mining leases and the establishment of new ones, is seen as a potential boost for revenue and employment in the state.
The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries has suggested focusing on urban development, transportation, and tourism to attract investments. Additionally, there's a call for the creation of key hubs such as an Automobile Hub, Spare Parts Hub, and a Sports Goods Manufacturing Hub.
The suggestion includes inviting major IT companies like Infosys, Google, Wipro, and Intel to set up operations in the state, which is expected to enhance both revenue and employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, social sector organizations are hopeful for increased budgetary allocations in the Health, Education, and Social Welfare sectors. Recognizing Jharkhand as a developing state, they emphasize the need for more funds in social infrastructure to nurture human capital, contributing to the overall development of the nation.
