In creating a 10-year mega roadmap for bolstered cooperation between India and Japan in several key sectors including critical minerals, defense, and technology, the two countries have further strengthened their special strategic and global partnership.
For this, Japan said on Friday it had set an investment target of 10 trillion yen in India over the next 10 years.
The announcement was made through a media statement by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba, in Tokyo, where Prime Minister Modi landed Friday morning.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Japan and China comes in the backdrop of economic turbulence by the Trump administration's policies on trade and tariffs.

As part of the 15th annual summit between India and Japan, Prime Minister Modi said India-Japan cooperation is crucial for global peace and stability, and both sides have laid a strong foundation for a "new and golden chapter" in the partnership.
“We have created a 10-year roadmap for cooperation in a range of areas, including investment, innovation, and economic security”, he said.
Saying the two countries are fully committed to a free, open, peaceful, prosperous and rules-based Indo-Pacific partnership, the PM said their concerns regarding terrorism and cybersecurity are also the same.
Both sides also decided to further strengthen cooperation in the field of the defense, industry, and innovation.
"Strong democracies are natural partners in shaping a better world," the PM said, and added that the India-Japan partnership is rooted in mutual trust, that “reflects our national priorities and is shaped by our shared values and beliefs”.
In his remarks, the Japanese prime minister said both sides need to take advantage of each other's strengths to deal with next-generation challenges.
