Even though the people in Himachal Pradesh have backed BJP on four out of four Lok Sabha seats, with the BJP nominees maintaining a reasonable lead from the Congress candidates since morning, they have preferred the Congress party in the state by-polls.
The highest lead margin so far is on the Kangra Lok Sabha seat, where BJP’s Rajeev Bhardwaj is leading by 2,33,512 votes from Congress party’s Anand Sharma, followed by Hamirpur with Union Minister of BJP, Anurag Thakur leading by 1,54,102, BJP’s Suresh Kashyap in Shimla by 85,465 and Kangana Ranaut leading in Mandi by 70,178 votes from Congress leader, Vikramaditya Singh.
In the state by-polls, the Congress party has already registered victory in three Assembly segments Gagret, Sujanpur and Lahaul Spiti although the results are yet to be declared formally. The BJP is leading by a reasonable margin in Kutlehar, while it is leading in the Badsar and Dharamshala Assembly segments.
