Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to file his nomination papers from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on May 14, according to BJP's city president Vidyasagar Rai.
Rai announced Sunday that Modi will lead a roadshow in the constituency on May 13, with preparations already underway. "The route for the roadshow has been finalized. On May 14, Prime Minister Modi will file his nomination from the Varanasi seat," Rai stated.
In Varanasi, the Congress party has nominated its Uttar Pradesh chief, Ajay Rai, while the BSP has chosen Athar Jamal Lari as their candidate.
Varanasi is scheduled to hold elections on June 1 in the seventh and final round of the general elections.
