The Bengaluru police have registered cases against two prominent pubs in the city—Bastian Garden City and Sourberry Pub—for allegedly operating beyond the permitted hours. Bastian Garden City is co-owned by Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty.

The Bastian Pub was founded by Bastian Hospitality, an organisation owned by businessman Ranjit Bindra. Shetty invested in the pub in 2019 and acquired a 50% stake.

The police action came after viral CCTV footage emerged, showing a late-night scuffle at Bastian pub around 1:30 am on December 11. The footage depicted two groups of patrons engaged in a heated verbal exchange and brief heckling. No serious physical altercation was reported.

Police also booked Sourberry Pub on Residency Road, a venue earlier linked to an incident involving Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan on November 28. A complaint was later filed alleging that Aryan Khan had made an offensive hand gesture at the venue, with the complainant claiming that several women present felt insulted by the gesture.

Following the incident, advocate Owaiz Hussain S, a resident of Sankey Road, submitted a complaint to the Director General of Police, the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Division), the Inspector of the Cubbon Park Police Station, and the Karnataka State Women’s Commission. Based on the complaint, legal action was initiated in the matter.

Police took up suo motu cases after the videos indicated that the pubs were functioning beyond permitted hours.
