Chloe Fineman is leaving “Saturday Night Live” after seven seasons.
Her exit marks the first major cast departure following the conclusion of Season 51 of the hit NBC sketch series. “It’s really hard to leave SNL but it does feel like the right time,” she said.
Fineman, one of the SNL’s standout performers over the past few years, is in talks to join “Myron Bolitar”, Netflix’s drama series inspired by Harlan Coben’s book series. If the deal goes through, Fineman will feature alongside Colin Woodell, KJ Apa and Diane Guerrero in the show.
Fineman joined SNL as a featured player at the beginning of the 2019-20 season, which was interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. She truly found her stride during the show’s remote spring 2020 episodes. Her home-produced segments put her elite impersonation skills on full display, that quickly became her SNL calling card.
Her memorable line-up of celebrity impressions spans a wide range of stars, from Drew Barrymore, Britney Spears, Nicole Kidman to Timothée Chalamet, JoJo Siwa and Sydney Sweeney. No target was off-limits for Fineman, with her parody roster extending to Meryl Streep, Jennifer Coolidge, Phoebe Dynevor, convicted felon Anna Delvey as well as SNL’s own Kate McKinnon.

Beyond her impressions, Fineman anchored several massively viral sketches, including Snack Homiez, Forever 31, and Maybelline. Most notably, her collaborations with Marcello Hernández on the Domingo series became internet sensations.
During Season 51, Fineman became SNL’s longest-tenured female cast member. She stepped into the senior role following the high-profile departures of veterans Ego Nwodim and Heidi Gardner last summer.
Along with her SNL stint, Fineman also did voice roles for Netflix’s “Big Mouth” and for “Despicable Me 4”. She also did an arc on “Laid” and appeared in “Freakier Friday” and “Megalopolis”.
Fineman’s exit aligns with the traditional SNL playbook of leaving after the standard initial seven-year contract. However, this trend has shifted over the past decade, with several prominent stars choosing to stay on much longer, like Kenan Thompson, the longest-tenured cast member ever, who has been associated with the show for 23 years and Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che, who have been part of the show for 13 and 12 seasons, respectively.
