Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has revealed the first look of his much-anticipated film, Punjab 95, a biopic based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
Sharing the poster on social media, Diljit captioned it with the powerful statement, "I Challenge the Darkness," sparking excitement among fans.
In the poster, Diljit, portraying Khalra, is shown sitting on the ground in a simple kurta and turban. His bloodied and bruised face reflects the struggles and intense emotions of the character.
The gritty first look hints at a storyline filled with resilience, pain, and determination, capturing the essence of Khalra’s life.
Diljit had earlier teased the release of the Punjab 95 film, sharing that it would hit screens in February 2025, even prompting him to delay his upcoming music album. Fans are eagerly waiting to witness his powerful performance in this Bollywood biopic.
The film explores the courageous journey of Jaswant Singh Khalra, who exposed the extrajudicial killings of Sikhs in Punjab during the 1990s. Khalra's work, which highlighted human rights violations, led to his mysterious disappearance in 1995, a dark chapter in Punjab’s history.

Punjab 95 has faced its share of controversies. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly demanded up to 120 cuts, including removing Khalra’s name and considering a title change.
Critics and fans viewed this as an attempt to dilute the film's historical and cultural significance, adding to the movie's challenges.
Despite these obstacles, producers Honey Trehan and Ronnie Screwvala have stood firm, ensuring the film’s release. Set to premiere in February 2025, Punjab 95 promises to be a landmark moment for Diljit Dosanjh and Bollywood biopics, shedding light on an unresolved and impactful story.
Fans are now counting down the days to see Diljit Dosanjh in this hard-hitting role that brings Jaswant Singh Khalra’s legacy to life.
