Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has addressed the controversy over his tweet where he used the word "Panjab" instead of "Punjab." On his social media, Diljit rejected claims of a conspiracy and criticised people for overanalysing his tweet.

He pointed out that the tweet lacked the tricolour emoji, which added to the backlash.

Diljit responded by writing the word "Punjab" in Punjabi script and said, "If the tricolour is missed once in a tweet about Punjab, it's called a conspiracy. Even in a tweet about Bengaluru, it was missed once. If Punjab is written as Panjab, it's called a conspiracy. Whether you write it as Panjab or Punjab, it will always remain ????? (sic)."

The controversy started when Diljit announced his Chandigarh concert using the spelling "Panjab," which some people associated with the Pakistani region. The lack of a tricolour emoji in his post sparked accusations of insensitivity.

Diljit responded to critics questioning his patriotism by explaining the meaning of "Panjab," which comes from the words “Panj Aab” (five rivers). He criticised those focusing on English spellings, saying, "Well done to those crying conspiracy over spellings in the Goras' language (English). In the future, I’ll write only in Punjabi: ਪੰਜਾਬ."

In a sarcastic tone, he addressed his critics: "How many times must we prove that We LOVE INDIA? Find something new to talk about, or is this your only task?"

Despite the controversy, Diljit has remained calm and continues to celebrate Punjabi culture. As his Dil-Luminati India tour moves forward, he has urged fans and critics to focus on more meaningful conversations.

Amidst this, singer Guru Randhawa posted a cryptic message with "PUNJAB" and a tricolour emoji, which many thought was aimed at Diljit. However, Randhawa did not clarify his post.

The controversy occurs as Diljit nears the end of his Dil-Luminati India tour. His Mumbai concert is scheduled for December 19, and the tour will wrap up with a grand finale in Guwahati on December 29.
