Actor Shamita Shetty has finally opened up about her much talked about but brief relationship and consequent breakup with Raqesh Bapat. The two first met during the reality TV show “Bigg Boss OTT” in 2021 and fell in love. Their relationship continued outside the “Bigg Boss” house until their break up a few months later. Netizens and fans loved the couple’s chemistry and were rooting for them inside as well as outside the show.
In a latest interview, Shamita conceded that she has erased the chapter of her relationship with Bapat from her life. She added that, as an independent working woman, she won’t sacrifice her peace for the sake of avoiding loneliness.
Shamita said over the years, she has learned to value emotional stability and personal boundaries and that she would not be in a relationship that drained her.
The “Mohabbatein” star admitted that their bond inside the “Bigg Boss” house was natural. “Please understand, when you’re locked up inside a house for so long, I think it is only natural for you to form such relationships. Because you look for support in your weak moments, you look for that closeness, which is very natural. However, it wouldn’t have happened in the outer world because we are both completely different people. It is a chapter that is erased in my life," she said while talking to a media outlet.

“As an independent working woman, I am not willing to compromise my peace just because you’re lonely sometimes. I think a lot of people get into relationships when they’re lonely. For me, to reach a stage where I became happy on my own, in my own space, it took me a while,” the actress added.
Shamita also admitted that relationships can be emotionally draining, saying, "So, till I don’t find someone that I know respects my soul, I will not take it further.”
On the work front, Shamita was last seen in “The Tenant” (2023). She also recently appeared with her sister Shilpa Shetty on Netflix show “The Great Indian Kapil Show”.
