Director Chad Stahelski, famous for helming the popular Hollywood film series John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves, will oversee the production of an English-language adaptation of the upcoming Indian action film Kill.

This news arrives shortly before the release of the original Hindi version, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, which is scheduled to hit the screens on Friday.

"Kill" received rave reviews following its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. Billed as "the most violent film made in India," the movie is produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment.

Stahelski, who is producing the film for Lionsgate through his company 87Eleven Entertainment, characterized "Kill" as one of the most visually striking, exciting, and original action movies he has encountered lately.

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions stated that "Kill" is an unusual endeavour where the creators of a mainstream Bollywood film partner with a Hollywood studio for a theatrical premiere in North America and the UK.

The movie depicts the journey of Amrit (Lakshya), an Indian Army commando, who falls in love with Tulika (Tanya Maniktala). Their lives take a dramatic turn when they become trapped in a hijacked train by Fani (Raghav Juyal) and his gang, resulting in the murder of passengers.

Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta produced the film for Dharma Productions, along with Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain from Sikhya Entertainment.

"Kill" also features major roles for Ashish Vidyarthi and Harsh Chhaya. It was recognised as the first runner-up for the People's Choice Award: Midnight Madness at TIFF 2023.
