Selena Gomez has finally broken her silence on changes in her appearance and voice over the years.
The “Calm Down” singer, who recently responded to rather blunt fan questions in an Instagram Live session, said: “Yeah I’ve gotten this question a few times. The voice thing. So, sometimes when I’m on—never mind.”
With her characteristic honesty on full display, Selena went on: “There’s no excuse. I don’t really care. I think my point is that sometimes things happen. I get weird. My throat kind of swells inside sometimes. That’s all.”
“I’m glad y’all are being real with me on the Live. I appreciate it though, for real,” the 33-year-old singer said.
That wasn’t the only personal question Gomez faced. In a video posted to her Instagram Story, she can he heard laughing while saying, “Someone made me laugh, because they asked me, ‘How do you, like, shave your mustache?'”
“I totally get it. I actually have melasma, you guys… It’s from the sun. You all have to obviously wear sunscreen and be careful… but it’s actually not [a mustache]. It’s my melasma. I take care of and treat it, but yeah, it’s there. That’s me.”

Gomez has been candid in the past about the challenges she has faced following her lupus and bipolar disorder diagnosis.
Fans flooded social media to laud the Rare Beauty founder for her honest response.
“Love how honest and open she is Selena addressing it herself with grace and confidence — that’s real strength. Always rooting for her,” one person commented on the post.
“I’m glad she cleared this up bc we all grew up knowing her voice then there was this drastic switch and then ppl were making up all types of. Hope she gets better,” another one commented.
