Tragedy struck a family in Jaipur on Thursday morning when an LPG cylinder explosion claimed the lives of five members, including three minors. The incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. in Jaisalya village, located within the Vishwakarma police station area.
According to a police official, the family, hailing from Bihar's Motihari district and residing in Jaipur on rent, was unable to escape the flames as the cylinder, situated near the entrance gate, exploded.
The victims were identified as Rajesh (26), his wife Ruby (24), and their children Ishu (7), Dilkhush (2), and Khushmani (4).
A neighbor speculated that the explosion may have resulted from incorrect cylinder installation, noting that Rajesh had replaced the cylinder earlier in the morning, as reported by ACP Ashok Chauhan.
Responding swiftly to the emergency, a police team rushed to the scene upon receiving the alert. Two fire brigades managed to contain the blaze within half-an-hour.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed condolences, calling the incident "heart-wrenching" and offering prayers for the departed souls.
Police officials announced that the bodies will be released to the family after postmortem examinations.
