Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced the launch of the 'Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot' programme ahead of the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. Modi will interact with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, volunteers, and supporters from the state on September 26 through the NAMO app.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister invited questions and suggestions from supporters ahead of the interactive session. “Our workers, volunteers, and supporters have pledged to make the lotus bloom at every booth in the Haryana assembly elections,” Modi wrote. The interactive session is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal announced special initiatives to boost voter turnout for the state's 15th Legislative Assembly election on October 5. Agarwal emphasised that voter awareness campaigns, including street plays, slogan writing, and poster-making, are underway as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.
Haryana has historically had a higher voter turnout than many other states, with 68.31% participation in the last Assembly elections. “It is the duty and right of every citizen to participate in the 'Festival of Democracy' during the upcoming elections by casting their valuable vote,” Agarwal said, stressing the importance of civic engagement.
The 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly will hold elections on October 5, with results to be declared on October 8, alongside those from Jammu and Kashmir.
