Astronomer HR head quits after Coldplay 'kiss cam' with CEO

Ms Cabot and Mr Byron were seen cuddling on the 'kiss cam' during a Coldplay concert near Boston, Massachusetts, on July 16.

Kristin Cabot's departure follows that of Andy Byron.

Kristin Cabot, the Chief People Officer of US-based tech firm Astronomer, has reportedly resigned from the company after being captured on the Coldplay concert 'kiss cam' in an intimate moment with the firm’s then-CEO, Andy Byron. Astronomer confirmed Cabot's departure in a statement to international media houses, saying she is no longer with the company.

Her resignation follows that of Byron, who stepped down last week after the company initially placed him on leave pending an internal investigation. In the meantime, Astronomer co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has assumed the role of interim CEO. Although the company has confirmed Cabot’s departure to the media, neither she nor Astronomer has made a formal public announcement about the separation.

The incident that sparked the controversy took place on July 16 at a Coldplay concert near Boston, Massachusetts, where Cabot and Byron were spotted cuddling as the venue's 'kiss cam' focused on them. The couple was seen embracing and swaying to the music on the stadium's jumbo screen before suddenly ducking out of sight. The moment prompted Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to comment onstage, joking, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy.”

The clip quickly went viral across social media platforms, amassing millions of views. Online users soon identified the pair, linking them to their executive roles at Astronomer. Amid the growing buzz around the video and speculation over a possible office romance, Astronomer launched an internal investigation, though it did not directly reference the concert footage. The company announced that its CEO would be placed on leave while the inquiry was underway.

Just a few days later, on July 20, Astronomer issued a statement confirming Andy Byron's resignation.

“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted it. The Board will initiate a search for our next Chief Executive, while Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO,” the company said. Astronomer, a tech firm specialising in data, analytics, and artificial intelligence, acknowledged that the viral video had brought unprecedented attention to the company.

“Our company’s name changed overnight because of an unexpected moment,” the statement noted. “But our focus remains the same—delivering solutions for our customers’ AI challenges.” Despite the media frenzy, Astronomer emphasized that its operations remain unaffected and that its commitment to customers continues as usual.
