The interim government of Bangladesh, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, is set to be sworn in tomorrow night, as confirmed by Army Chief Waker-Uz-Zaman.

The announcement follows a turbulent political landscape marked by the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her subsequent departure from the country amid violent protests.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved Parliament on Tuesday and appointed Yunus as the head of the interim government after an emergency meeting at the presidential palace.

The composition of the interim cabinet will be finalized following consultations with various political parties, according to the president's press secretary.

The country remains on edge, with reports of ongoing violence across several regions. Since mid-July, the unrest has claimed at least 440 lives, and the military assumed control in response to the escalating crisis.

Vandalism has plagued Hindu temples, households, and businesses, with reports of assaults against women and the deaths of two Hindu leaders affiliated with Hasina’s Awami League party.

Yunus, who is currently abroad, expressed support for the ousting of Hasina's government, calling it the "second liberation" of Bangladesh.

He gained international recognition for his anti-poverty efforts through the Grameen Bank, winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, which led the protests demanding reforms, has confirmed Yunus's appointment, highlighting the urgency of stabilising the situation in the country.
