Baloch rebels share video of deadly attack on Pak convoy

According to the police, evidence from the Balochistan attack indicates that a suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden vehicle into the Pakistani paramilitary convoy.

The Baloch rebels responsible for the recent train siege in Pakistan have released a video showcasing their latest attack on a paramilitary convoy, which resulted in the deaths of five people, including three Pakistani soldiers.

The attack occurred on a highway in Balochistan’s Noshki district, and the footage released by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) captures the explosion and thick plumes of smoke emerging from a bus.

According to police officials, initial evidence from the site suggests that a suicide attacker deliberately drove an explosive-laden vehicle into the convoy. Following the blast, additional assailants opened fire on the Frontier Corps personnel. However, security forces retaliated, killing two of the attackers. The attack also claimed the lives of two civilians and three soldiers.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the "cowardly" act, affirming that such attacks would not weaken Pakistan’s resolve to combat terrorism.

This incident follows another violent operation by the BLA on Tuesday, where they hijacked a passenger train and held passengers hostage for 36 hours. In that attack, they blew up railway tracks to seize control of the Jaffar Express in a remote mountain pass in Balochistan province. The siege left 31 soldiers and civilians dead.

The BLA, the most prominent separatist group in Balochistan, frequently targets security forces in the province, which is rich in oil and minerals. The group has long been fighting for independence, claiming that the region’s natural resources are being exploited by Pakistan’s military and the ruling Punjabi elite.

In a recent statement, the BLA asserted that Balochistan’s resources rightfully belong to the Baloch people and accused Pakistani military officials of looting them for personal gain.

The organisation is believed to have around 5,000 members, with an increasing number of women, including law students and medical graduates, joining its ranks.
