The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson has said that the US under the Biden regime had one of the worst performances in the past 60 years.
The spokesperson said in response to a question about the performance of the democratic Biden administration over the past four years.
During a press conference, Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, criticised the Biden administration, stating, "On a regional level, I think the Democratic administration of the United States had one of the worst performances in the past 60 years.
The last 16 months of this administration were mostly occupied with comprehensive support for genocide in our region."
Baghaei highlighted Iran’s diplomatic efforts for peace in Gaza, adding, “In the last 16 months, we have witnessed Iran’s efforts to stop the crimes of the Zionist regime,” he said.
He called the ceasefire a positive result. He dismissed claims of Iran negotiating its defence capabilities, asserting, "Iran has not and will not negotiate with any party about its defence and military capabilities.
Meanwhile, while addressing the rumours of a ban on Iranian goods in Syria, Baghaei expressed his reservations on the subject, saying, "I doubt that the original news is true and it needs to be verified."
When asked about the negotiations with the US over the nuclear deal, he said, “Any statements about direct negotiations with the U.S. were not official policy but personal opinions.”
Additionally, Baghaei also said that the Iran-Russia bilateral relations are aimed at strategic and economic benefits.
Asked about Elon Musk’s role in releasing the detained Italian journalist, he said, “There is no such thing; our position on the matter is clear; we have denied addressing the issue.”
On Iran's expectations from the U.S., Baghaei hoped for policies "based on international law."
He concluded by asserting, "Iran is acting decisively in defending its interests, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity."
