France, Germany and the UK (E3) have informed the UN of reimposing the snapback sanctions on Iran following their non-cooperation in the nuclear talks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that there would be "no point" in continuing cooperation with nuclear inspectors. The E3 nations have sent a letter to the UN Security Council stating that they have initiated a 30-day process to reimpose sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme on Thursday.
The three countries are aiming to reimpose the originally lifted sanctions through a window where it would be possible to automatically reinstate the penalties, which include a complete embargo on arms sales to Iran.

Meanwhile, the Iranian foreign deputy minister said earlier on Thursday that Tehran would pull back all of its cooperation with the UN's nuclear agency in case Germany, France and the UK reimpose the so-called “snapback” sanctions that were halted as part of the 2015 nuclear deal.
While the E3 were moving ahead with the reimposition of the sanctions, the Iranian foreign minister criticised the move as illegal and unjustified.
He said, "This decision by the three European countries will seriously undermine the ongoing process of interaction and cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).”
Araghchi told his three counterparts, including the EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, that Tehran would respond "appropriately to this illegal and unjustified action ... to protect and guarantee its national rights and interests." The talks between the E3 and Iran began immediately after the US carried out strikes on three nuclear plants in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on June 22.
