As many as 50 people have been killed as the Israeli army reduced the residential apartments to rubble in Gaza City in the past 24 hours, said the Gaza Health Ministry, which the UN considers credible.
While the Israeli attacks on the northern urban centre continued into the early hours of Saturday, with a deadly assault reported on the Palestinians and their homes. The Israeli defence minister says the “Gates of hell” are opening in Gaza as the military destroyed a high-rise tower in what used to be a highly populated part of the besieged enclave.
Israeli far-right national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who is also wanted by the ICJ over his involvement in the Crimes against humanity in Gaza, along with Smotrich and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, celebrated the destruction its forces carried out in Gaza.
The building, which was one of the tallest in Gaza City, was hit by two missiles launched from F-16 fighter jets, according to reports. While the Israeli army continues to ramp up the attacks on Palestinians in Gaza, United States President Donald Trump has said that his administration is in deep talks with Hamas.

Trump earlier this week said, “We are in very deep negotiations with Hamas.” He also pressed Hamas to return all the captives to end the war in Gaza. Hamas later confirmed and reiterated its willingness for a comprehensive peace deal to end the war in Gaza.
While Hamas said it was ready to accept the ceasefire deal, later a Qatari foreign ministry spokesperson said that Israel was “unwilling to reach an agreement”. Israel’s war on Gaza has killed 640,300 people and injured more than 162,005, with tens of thousands of people still buried in the rubble.
A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7 attacks, and about 200 were taken captive.
