After the ceasefire with Israel, Hezbollah has paid out an excess of $50 million in cash as gifts to the families affected by the conflict with Israel, said its leader, Naim Qassem, as the group seeks to boost its support base, reports said.

Qassem said in a recorded speech that the payments of between $300 and $400 per individual will total approximately more than $77 million when distributed to all 233,500 registered families.

He also thanked Iran for its financing of the effort alongside Hezbollah. Iran has been continuously supporting Hezbollah’s fight against Israel and has been financing the group for years.

The group has also promised to pay a lump sum of $8,000 to the families whose primary houses were destroyed in the conflict.

Additionally, the group will provide $6,000 for a year of rent to the families living in Beirut or its suburbs and $4,000 for the people living outside the capital until they can come back home, he said.

According to Qassem, the major share of payments will be credited and financed by Iran, he added.

The World Bank says nearly 100,000 homes were fully or partially destroyed during the war with Israel.

As per estimates, the total loss caused during conflict stands at around $3.2 billion in damages.

Hezbollah, a Shiite resistance group, has recently involved itself in a range of different conflicts in the Middle East, including its role in Syria, where the group has been fighting for the Assad-led government.

Meanwhile, by offering to pay millions of dollars in damages and losses caused by Israel in Lebanon, Iran has made it clear that they are going to protect and provide to the proxies who act as the first line of defence for them in the Middle East.
