On the eve of his swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump declared his determination to "prevent World War III" and halt the "invasion of our borders" at a spirited "Make America Great Again" rally held at the Capital One Arena.
"We are going to give them the best first day, the biggest first week and the most extraordinary first 100 days of any presidency in American history," Trump assured thousands of fervent supporters. His remarks underlined a commitment to the promises made during his campaign for a second stint in the White House.
The incoming President vowed to repeal executive actions enacted by outgoing President Joe Biden "within hours" of assuming office.
"By the time the sun sets tomorrow evening, all the illegal border trespassers will, in some form or another, be on their way back home," he declared, pledging to initiate the largest deportation exercise in American history.
Trump emphasised his administration's plans to reinforce border security.
Sources cited by Reuters revealed that his first executive orders are likely to classify drug cartels as "foreign terrorist organisations" and reinstate the "Remain in Mexico" policy, which mandates non-Mexican asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for their US court dates.
"We are going to reclaim our wealth and unlock the liquid gold that's right under our feet," he proclaimed, indicating a focus on bolstering energy independence.
Middle east peace efforts
In his address, Trump took credit for the recent ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which ended a 15-month conflict between Israel and Hamas.
He attributed the deal to the "Trump effect," remarking, "This agreement could have happened only as a result of our historic victory in November."
Earlier on Sunday, Hamas released three Israeli hostages after 471 days of captivity, while Israel freed 90 Palestinian prisoners.
"Our incoming administration has achieved all of this in the Middle East in less than three months. Without being president, we have achieved more than they have achieved in four years," he added.
Revival of TikTok
Trump announced that TikTok would resume operations in the United States following negotiations to ensure 50 per cent American ownership of the app.
"As of today, TikTok is back. We need to save TikTok because we have to save a lot of jobs," he said.
The announcement followed a Supreme Court decision requiring ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, to sell its US operations to approved bidders.
"Before even taking office, you are seeing results no one expected to see," Trump stated.
Pledges for the future
The President-elect reiterated his commitment to declassify documents related to the assassinations of John F Kennedy, Robert F Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.
He also vowed to eliminate critical race theory and transgender participation in women's sports from schools, describing such policies as "radical and foolish."
In closing, Trump said, "I will end the war in Ukraine, I will stop the chaos in the Middle East, and I will prevent World War III from happening. And you have no idea how close we are."
The event featured an appearance by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, who was accompanied by his son, X Æ A-12. Musk addressed the crowd, expressing his enthusiasm for the incoming administration's agenda.
He stated, "This victory is the start, really. What matters going forward is to actually make significant changes, submit those changes, and set the foundation for America to be strong for a century, for centuries, forever."
During the rally, Musk's son, X Æ A-12, captured the audience's attention with his energetic presence on stage.
President-elect Trump commended Musk and his son, remarking, "If you believe in the racehorse theory, he's got a nice, smart son."
The "racehorse theory" suggests that certain bloodlines produce superior offspring.
