Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen recently spoke over the phone to discuss the latest developments in the West Asia region.
During their conversation, Araghchi emphasised Iran’s longstanding commitment to peace, blaming the ongoing crises in the region on Israel’s actions. He described the situation as a result of "warmongering and genocide" by Israel, according to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Araghchi also criticised certain European countries for their "paradoxical and contradictory" stance towards Israel, lamenting that the European Union had failed to take meaningful action against Israel’s violations in its military actions against Palestine and Lebanon.
On the other hand, Valtonen expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crises unfolding in the region. She stressed the importance of restoring peace and stability to West Asia, hoping for an end to the violence. Valtonen emphasised that achieving peace required ongoing dialogue and collaboration between all parties involved.
The two ministers also discussed the need for continued diplomatic consultations to strengthen bilateral relations and expand consular cooperation between Iran and Finland. Despite their differences on certain issues, both sides agreed on the importance of dialogue to address the challenges facing the region and the international community.
