The US President Donald Trump has reportedly approved a plan to carry out direct military attacks on Tehran but hasn’t yet ordered the strike, claimed one of the prominent US dailies.
The report has certainly attracted quite a few eyebrows in the international community, especially from those supporting Iran in the ongoing war with Israel.
Russia, China, North Korea, Venezuela, Pakistan and certain regional countries have expressed strong criticism over the decision, calling it a move that could jeopardise peace in the entire region.
Meanwhile, Tehran could potentially move its entire arsenal against Israel and US bases located in the region if US forces conduct strikes on Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility.
Millions of people could die in the war and yet the responsibility for those lives will rest with one man in power, who views Iran as a danger to world peace rather than Israel, which initiated the attack.
Tehran has also vowed a strong retaliation if the US gets involved in the war. Iranian Foreign Minister on Friday said his country was not seeking a ceasefire deal and that they were prepared to fight.
Major regional countries bordering Iran will immediately feel the heat of the consequences, including Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, China and Pakistan.
A US-Israel-Iran war will not only engulf the regional nations, but it will also spill over and affect the entire South Asian region, let alone West Asia.
Trump has constantly threatened military action against Iran, yet he does not know how the war with Iran could permanently destabilise Israel.
Then comes the case of regime change. The US-Israel's long aspirations of forcing regime change will also not help Israel's case. Any plan to take out Iran's Fordo nuclear facility will invoke an unprecedented response from Tehran.
Israeli military analysts believe that Iran has fired some 700 of its medium-range ballistic missiles, which means they have between 300 to 1,300 left in the stockpile, though this is not accurate, as several analyses have made contradictory claims.
One of the major reliable sources, US CENTCOM’s Commander General Kenneth McKenzie, said in 2023 that they had more than 3,000 missiles of different ranges.
Technically, Israel does not possess the level of technology that might take out the nuclear facility deeply embedded in the mountains.
It's only the United States that has the capability of destroying the facility that is located 15-45 metres deep in the ground. After the renewed threats from Israel and the US, Iran's supreme leader has said, “We will not capitulate to anyone in the face of coercion.”
