Israel is fully prepared to launch an all-out military operation against Iran, as tensions in the region continue to soar amid a trilateral deadlock between the United States, Iran, and Israel over Tehran’s nuclear deal, according to multiple sources cited on Thursday.

Iran, over the past week, claimed to have extracted “secret classified documents linked to Israel's nuclear sites and research programme,” fuelling speculation that it may retaliate by targeting these facilities if Israel strikes the Islamic Republic’s nuclear sites.

Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw military personnel from certain Middle Eastern bases is widely seen as a precautionary move to avoid potential casualties should the United States give Israel the green light to attack Iran.

This development comes as the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, is expected to meet with the Iranian delegation for the sixth time since April, as efforts to finalise the nuclear deal continue to stall.

Trump, while attending a performance of Les Misérables at the Kennedy Centre on Thursday, remarked that US military personnel are being relocated from some countries in the Middle East because remaining there would be “too dangerous”. He added, “Iran cannot have nukes. Very simple. They can’t have a nuclear weapon. We’re not going to allow that.”

There is now an escalating risk confronting the already war-ravaged region. Should Iran and Israel proceed with military action against one another, the consequences could extend far beyond the region, potentially triggering a conflict no one can control.

Any war would not be confined to two regional powers operating in a complex theatre; it could also mobilise the entire Shia population against both the United States and Israel.

Engaging in a military conflict with Iran could prove catastrophic for the region. Iran maintains a vast and intricate network of proxy militias, which would likely launch attacks on neighbouring countries if war were to erupt.

Meanwhile, regional tensions have continued to rise in recent days, as negotiations between the United States and Iran over Tehran’s rapidly advancing nuclear programme appear to have reached an impasse.
