At least 93 people have been killed in the latest Israeli airstrikes on Gaza in less than 24 hours, despite mounting international pressure, said the health Ministry in Gaza the UN considers credible. Earlier on Wednesday, Netanyahu said that Israel will only cease action if people of Gaza are relocated to safer places outside of the occupied territory, a plan that has been rejected by both the international community and the Gazans alike.

He said, “Israel will take full control of the territory to defeat Hamas,” a goal that has been termed by the international community as unachievable given the strength Hamas possesses in terms of numbers and resources. The United Nations’ chief spokesperson said the limited humanitarian aid “finally” entering Gaza is “nowhere near enough to meet the needs” of the war-torn enclave’s famished population.

The United Nations also warned on Wednesday that there are around 14,000 babies who might lose their lives within 48 hours if the aid is allowed to enter Gaza. US secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed optimism about the possible ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel, especially after Trump concluded the tri-nation tour of the Middle East.

However, he said, “he had been sure about the peace deal earlier as well, but then things spiralled out of control as both parties did not meet certain criteria for a permanent ceasefire." Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 53,655 Palestinians and wounded 121,950, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

The Government Media Office updated the death toll to more than 61,700, saying thousands of people missing under the rubble are presumed dead. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 were taken captive.
