The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have demolished 300 homes in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of the central Gaza Strip over the past three days as part of its ongoing occupation plan approved by the Netanyahu government last week.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defence in Gaza, said that Israeli forces have carried out a series of heavily armed assaults in Zeitoun, deliberately targeting civilian residential areas.
He added that the Israeli forces have specifically struck buildings with civilians still inside, blasting several homes and apartments in an effort to clear the territory.
Meanwhile, international pressure is mounting on Israel over what many rights groups have described as a genocidal war on Gaza, which has killed more than 61,700 people since October 2023.
Last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes in Gaza.
In addition, Netanyahu's government is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the enclave.
On Wednesday, as many as 100 civilians were killed in Israeli attacks; 61 of those casualties occurred in Gaza City alone, according to the Gaza health ministry.
Among those killed were 37 aid seekers, targeted near various distribution points, including 16 in Rafah.
Officials at the Al Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza said that 14 more aid seekers were killed, while 113 others were injured when Israeli forces opened fire on desperate civilians in the north.
