Seventy people lost their lives in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours in fresh Israeli bombardments, bringing renewed focus to the spiralling humanitarian catastrophe in the war-torn enclave.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, whose figures the United Nations deems credible — over 549 individuals have died in the last month while seeking humanitarian assistance. The violence has also left more than 4,000 injured at or near aid distribution points managed by the US-Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

A separate drone strike on Friday near Bani Suheila in Khan Younis killed three civilians, Gaza health officials reported.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has recorded at least 23 settler-led attacks in the occupied West Bank during the same period, resulting in one death and 14 injuries. These incidents reportedly involved arson, property destruction, and vandalism of Palestinian farmland, including olive groves.

“Illegal settlers continue to attack Palestinian homes in the occupied West Bank,” OCHA stated in its latest report.

Meanwhile, European Union leaders, meeting in Brussels, have demanded an immediate halt to Israel's military operations in Gaza. They expressed growing concern that the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran could collapse, potentially dragging the broader region into fresh conflict.

Since the beginning of the war, Gaza’s Health Ministry estimates that at least 56,259 Palestinians have been killed and 132,458 wounded — figures that continue to climb as strikes persist.

Despite mounting international concern, diplomatic efforts to enforce a ceasefire have faltered. Critics have accused world powers of failing to exert meaningful pressure on Israel to halt the hostilities.

Israel’s left-leaning factions and members of the native Arab-Jewish community have voiced opposition to the ongoing military campaign, pointing to the presence of hostages still held by Hamas as a reason to pursue negotiation over escalation.
