Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Ethiopia’s highest national award, The Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia, on Tuesday during his visit to Addis Ababa.
The honour was presented to Prime Minister Modi by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali at a special ceremony held at the Addis International Convention Centre on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, the award was given in recognition of Prime Minister Modi’s outstanding contribution to strengthening India-Ethiopia relations and for his visionary leadership on the global stage.
Prime Minister Modi is the first global head of state or head of government to receive this prestigious Ethiopian honour.
