Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Monday conferred with Slovakia's highest national award, The Order of the White Double Cross (1st Class). This recognition marks the Prime Minister's 33rd international honour.
The President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, presented the award to PM Modi during a formal ceremony in Bratislava.
Expressing his gratitude on social media, PM Modi stated that he was deeply honoured to receive the decoration in Bratislava. He extended his thanks to the people and government of Slovakia, noting that the honour truly belongs to the 1.4 billion people of India and dedicating the award to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Minister described the award as a testament to the warmth, trust, and affection uniting the peoples of India and Slovakia. He expressed hope that the recognition would inspire future generations in both countries to continue nurturing their special bond.
The Order of the White Double Cross (1st Class) represents the highest civilian and military state decoration that Slovakia awards exclusively to foreign nationals.
