Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the UAE on Tuesday for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and inaugurating the country's first Hindu stone temple.
This marks Modi's seventh visit to the UAE since 2015.
Upon his arrival, PM Modi received a guard of honour, highlighting the significance of his visit.
In a statement before departing, Modi expressed eagerness to advance India's comprehensive strategic partnership with the UAE, emphasizing the substantial progress made in various sectors over the past nine years.
"Over the last nine years, our cooperation with UAE in diverse sectors such as trade and investment, defence and security, food and energy security and education has grown manifold. Our cultural and people-to-people connect is stronger than ever," he said.
"I look forward to meeting Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, in Abu Dhabi and holding wide-ranging discussions on taking forward our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," Modi said.
During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to engage in extensive discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, focusing on boosting cooperation in energy, ports, fintech, digital infrastructure, railways, and investment flows.
The two leaders are expected to sign multiple agreements to enhance cooperation in key areas.
Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Mandir, the UAE's first Hindu stone temple, in Abu Dhabi.
The temple, situated on around 27 acres of land donated by the UAE government, is a testament to the shared values of harmony, peace, and tolerance between India and the UAE.
Furthermore, PM Modi will address the Indian community at the 'Ahlan Modi' event in Abu Dhabi's Zayed Sports City Stadium, celebrating the contributions of the diaspora to India's global engagement.
He will also meet with UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Later, PM Modi is set to participate in the World Government Summit in Dubai, where he will engage with global leaders to discuss various issues.
The UAE and India share robust economic ties, with bilateral trade reaching approximately USD 85 billion in 2022-23. Moreover, the UAE ranks among the top investors in India in terms of foreign direct investment.
PM Modi's visit underscores the significance of India-UAE relations and the commitment to further enhancing cooperation across various sectors. Following his visit to the UAE, PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Doha on Wednesday afternoon, continuing his diplomatic engagements in the region.
