Drone Attack on Kyiv by Russia Leaves Seven People Injured.

Russia launched a mass drone attack on Kyiv overnight, leaving at least seven people injured and causing significant damage to residential buildings, according to local authorities.

The strikes targeted various parts of the Ukrainian capital, with emergency services working through the early hours of Sunday to contain the fires and assist the wounded.

Kyiv's Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported that one individual required hospitalisation, while six others received medical treatment at the scene. The attack struck two residential buildings in the Dniprovskyi district, causing fires and damaging properties.

The upper floors of one building were hit by debris from a drone, igniting a fire. Meanwhile, the 20th floor of another apartment block was damaged in a similar incident, as confirmed by Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Before the residential strikes, drone wreckage hit a catering facility in the same district, further adding to the chaos.

In the Podilskyi district, fragments of drones struck two high-rise apartments, sparking fires. Emergency services quickly responded to the scenes, and efforts to assess the extent of casualties and damages are ongoing.

In addition to the direct attacks on residential areas, drone debris caused fires and property damage in other parts of the city. The Desnianskyi district witnessed a fire in an open area, while a vehicle was damaged in the Shevchenkivsky district.

The Holosiivskyi district also reported debris falling in an industrial area.

Throughout the night, Kyiv was rocked by a series of explosions as air defence units worked to counter the aerial threat.

The assault comes less than a week after the partial 30-day "ceasefire" on attacks against energy infrastructure in Russia and Ukraine, announced by the Kremlin on 18 March.

Despite the ceasefire, Moscow's aerial strikes on Ukrainian cities have continued, raising doubts about Russia's intentions.

Tymur Tkachenko expressed his frustration, remarking, "Today, the Russians are once again demonstrating their ‘desire for peace’." The continued attacks have further strained the already fragile ceasefire agreement, leaving the residents of Kyiv on edge as the conflict drags on.
