Saudi Arabia, alongside several Gulf nations, is celebrating Eid al-Fitr on Sunday, while other Middle Eastern countries, including Iran, Oman, and Jordan, will observe the festival on Monday.
In an official statement, the Saudi Royal Court declared, "The Supreme Court has decided that... Sunday, March 30, 2025, is the first day of Eid al-Fitr."
The holiday marks the conclusion of the Islamic holy month of Ramzan, its date determined by the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon in accordance with the lunar calendar.
Neighbouring Gulf states, including the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, have also announced Sunday as the first day of Eid.

However, Oman, Jordan, and Shiite-majority Iran stated that Eid al-Fitr would commence on Monday, as the crescent moon was not sighted.
Egypt and several North African nations followed suit.
During Ramzan, devout Muslims observe fasting from dawn to dusk, refraining from food and drink.
The month culminates in Eid celebrations, traditionally marked by communal prayers, feasts, and gatherings with family and friends.
Meanwhile, in India, Eid festivities are expected to begin on the evening of 31 March 2025 and continue through 1 April 2025.
