The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) has said that the voluntary shutdown and wheel-jam strike are continuing across Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
In a post on X, the committee said people taking part in sit-in protests remain committed to their demands and are determined to continue the agitation.
The committee stated that residents have faced several hardships during the movement, including injuries, curfews, restrictions and financial difficulties. It also said people across the region remain united in support of the protests.
It appealed to the public not to pay attention to rumours or unverified reports on social media about possible negotiations. The committee said it has always been open to meaningful and constructive talks and continues to support dialogue.
At the same time, it urged supporters to stay focused on the objectives of the movement and not be influenced by what it described as misleading information circulating on social media.
It added that any official update regarding negotiations or future decisions would be shared through a formal press statement issued by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee.
The ongoing protests in PoJK are rooted in long-standing public concerns over economic conditions, governance, electricity tariffs, subsidies and political representation.
The region has witnessed repeated protests in recent years. One of the largest demonstrations took place in 2024 under the leadership of the Awami Action Committee, with protesters demanding lower electricity prices, cheaper flour and changes in government policies.
