A Delhi-based non-local tourist guide was grievously injured in a suspected terror attack in Heerpora, an area of south Kashmir’s Shopian on Monday evening, said sources.
The attack took place when militants fired upon a hotel, a non-local tourist guide was critically injured in the attack and was shifted to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for further treatment.
The attack was reportedly carried out by the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LET) terrorist Shahid Kutte.
The victim was identified as Dilranjan Singh, 45, (driver) a resident of Delhi. He was ferrying two German nationals when the said attack took place.
The two tourists- a male named Adgar Zil and a female named Silly Raber are safe under police custody.
The terror attack took place at Danish Resorts, Heerpora Shopian. According to eyewitnesses, “These foreign tourists were having dinner along with their guide when the armed men barged into the hotel and indiscriminately fired upon the tourist guide.”
Following the attacks all entry and exit points have been sealed by joint teams of security forces subsequently a massive cordon and search operation has been initiated to grab the accused terrorists.
Meanwhile, Police in a statement on X said, “A Taxi driver was fired upon by terrorists in Heerpora Shopian and got injured. The search operation is going on.”
Earlier, In February, two non-locals were killed in Srinagar when unknown terrorists opened fire on them. A non-local named Amritpal Singh, an Amritsar resident, died the same day.
Another person named Rohit, who was injured in the gunfire and transported for medical care, died a day later in the hospital.
