Trump’s special envoy, Keith Kellogg, has told critics of the Trump-Putin Alaska summit to 'shut up' after the two leaders agreed to address and end the conflict in Ukraine.

The two presidents met in Anchorage, Alaska, last Friday and expressed hope that progress on securing a peace deal had been made. “We are experiencing a really important phase of history,” Kellogg said, adding, “To the critics, I’d probably like to just say, oh, shut up and go sit in the corner.”

He said Trump had taken relatively more positive steps to address the crisis than his predecessor, Joe Biden, who “never even talked to Putin.” In contrast to the Biden regime, which categorically refused to engage in dialogue with Moscow and kept supporting Ukraine despite knowing that Russia could not be defeated.

Trump has decided to put an end to this conflict by directly engaging with Putin since the war in Ukraine could end only through dialogue and interaction. The Ukraine war cannot be solved through military means; rather, its solution lies in real diplomacy, like Trump is doing, he said.

Russian officials, including Putin, have repeatedly welcomed the US president’s “sincere” desire to achieve peace. Trump and Putin met for the first time in over 6 years after the Helsinki meeting in 2019. Both described the talks as constructive and warm.

During a meeting with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky, several European leaders, and the heads of NATO and the European Commission this week, the US president declared Kiev’s membership in NATO to be out of the question and insisted on a direct Putin-Zelensky meeting.

Trump later briefed Putin on the discussions. According to Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, the call lasted 40 minutes, with both sides expressing readiness to continue discussions.
