The United States military has conducted its ninth round of consecutive strikes against Iran, targeting military command centres, air defence sites, maritime assets, missile facilities, and communications networks. A US soldier has reportedly died in Iraq after a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone, according to CENTCOM.
Iran’s atomic agency says multiple projectiles hit the under-construction Darkhovin nuclear power plant site.
For the first time since the war began, the United States has launched strikes on the north-western city of Tabriz, where at least three explosions were reported.
The southwest regions, including Bushehr and Hormozgan, were also targeted for the second straight night.
Apart from nuclear sites, military command and missile centres, US forces struck the port cities of Jask and Sirik, which oversee the Strait of Hormuz.
The heaviest bombardments by the United States have taken place there over the past few nights.
On Monday, the US military said it had completed its ninth consecutive night of strikes against Iran, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The command said that CENTCOM assets targeted “Iranian military command centres, air defence and coastal surveillance sites, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and communications networks”.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says it launched ballistic missiles at US C-17 transport planes and P-8 aircraft at Aqaba Airport in Jordan, claiming several were heavily damaged.
It also claimed to have shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone with the assistance of air defence systems.
