Yemen’s Houthi rebels have reported an intense new wave of US airstrikes over Sanaa on Friday, with at least 19 strikes carried out since the early hours of the morning.
The US, in its renewed warnings to Houthi rebels, targeted multiple neighbourhoods in the capital as confrontations between American naval forces and the Houthis escalated across the Red Sea in recent weeks.
The extent of the damage and possible casualties is yet to be confirmed by health authorities.
However, the number of strikes appeared particularly intense compared to previous days since the campaign began on March 15.
Early reports from the Houthis indicated that at least seven people were injured in the strikes in Sanaa this morning.

Other attacks targeted locations around the Red Sea port city of Hodeida, the Iran-backed group’s stronghold of Saada, as well as Yemen’s al-Jawf, Amran, and Marib governorates.
While the Houthis have not immediately acknowledged what specific sites were hit, other than Sanaa International Airport—which serves both civilian and military purposes—several areas affected include neighbourhoods that house military and intelligence sites, as well as dense civilian populations.
Additional strikes targeted mountainous terrain north of Sanaa in Amran, where military camps and other installations are believed to be located. Al-Masirah satellite news network reported disruptions to communication networks following the attacks.
This marks yet another escalation in hostilities between the US and the Houthis, following the rebel group’s continued threats to block and attack Israeli-linked ships.
