Kremlin: West Watching Closely as Modi Heads to Moscow.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Russia has sparked keen interest and some envy from Western nations, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. Scheduled for July 8-9, this visit is seen as significant, with discussions planned between PM Modi and President Vladimir Putin on various global and regional matters of mutual importance.

Peskov remarked that the West's close attention to Modi's visit reflects its recognition of its importance. He emphasized that such high-level engagements underline the deep strategic ties between India and Russia, which continue to evolve amidst global shifts.

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra highlighted that discussions during the visit will include key issues in the Indo-Pacific region, underscoring its relevance to both nations. The agenda will feature restricted-level talks between Modi and Putin followed by broader delegation-level discussions.

In addition to diplomatic discussions, PM Modi's itinerary includes interactions with the vibrant Indian community in Russia and visits to cultural landmarks, such as the Kremlin. A special cultural event on July 9 will celebrate the artistic connections between India and Russia, featuring performances by Russian artists trained in Kathak, a classical Indian dance form.

Natalia, one of the Russian artists set to perform, expressed her excitement, noting her seven-year dedication to mastering Kathak and her pride in showcasing this art form before PM Modi. This cultural exchange highlights the enduring cultural bonds between the two nations.

India's Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, described PM Modi's visit as highly significant, marking the first overseas trip since his re-election as Prime Minister. Kumar emphasized the tradition of annual summit-level meetings between Indian and Russian leaders, highlighting the last summit held in 2021 during President Putin's visit to New Delhi.

The upcoming 22nd India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit aims to strengthen strategic cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration. It comes at a pivotal time, with both countries navigating evolving global dynamics and seeking to deepen their longstanding partnership across various sectors.

PM Modi's visit is expected to consolidate bilateral ties, reaffirm shared strategic interests, and explore opportunities for future cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, and technology.

As India's first major diplomatic engagement since his re-election, the visit underscores the country's commitment to strengthening relationships with key global partners amidst changing geopolitical landscapes.

The discussions between Modi and Putin are anticipated to set the tone for enhanced cooperation in addressing regional and global challenges, reflecting the shared vision of stability and progress in an increasingly interconnected world.
