In the early hours of Thursday, a drone attack carried out by Indian forces targeted an air defence system in Lahore, Pakistan, resulting in injuries to four Pakistani soldiers. The strike came as a retaliatory measure following a series of drone attacks on Indian military installations in the northern and western sectors during the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
The incident was confirmed by Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, during a press conference. According to Gen Chaudhry, one of the drones crashed near Lahore, injuring four soldiers.
Indian military officials stated that the drone strike was a response to multiple attempted Pakistani drone incursions targeting military sites across northern and western India. They reported that Indian armed forces successfully intercepted these attempts and destroyed a Pakistani air defence system located in Lahore.
Lt Gen Chaudhry also disclosed that drones were intercepted and brought down in various Pakistani cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Miano, Karachi, Chhor, Rawalpindi, and Attock. “Other than these 12, one drone, however, managed to engage a military target near Lahore partially,” he stated.
