At least six Army soldiers were injured in an accidental mine blast along the LoC in Rajouri’s Bhawani sector on Tuesday.
A patrolling party was conducting its routine operation when the soldiers accidentally stepped on one mine, which triggered a massive blast, said the officials.
They said that in this incident six Army soldiers sustained minor injuries and they were immediately shifted to 150 General Hospital (GH) Rajouri for treatment.
All the soldiers are now in stable conditions.
The Army has initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and to ensure the safety of personnel operating in such areas.
Following the incident, the security in this particular sector has been heightened, and additional precautionary measures are being put in place.
The area where the incident took place is a high-security zone due to its closeness to the LoC, which has witnessed several border confrontations between Pakistani and Indian troops in the past.
The mines along LoC are a common practice or standard operating procedure of border security measures. Incidents like these highlight potential risks of the friendly explosion while the troops perform their regular patrol duties in highly sensitive areas.
