In a major operation, Bengaluru police dismantled a drug-peddling network allegedly run by a jailed drug dealer, Amir Khan, with the help of two accomplices.
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) seized drugs worth Rs 71 lakh, including MDMA crystals, hydro ganja, and regular ganja, as part of the Bengaluru drug bust.
Acting on credible intelligence, the CCB arrested Fayaz Khan, 28, a Kerala native, on November 13. Soon after, his accomplice Gautam, 35, was apprehended in the Nagarabhavi area of Bengaluru.
The arrests marked a breakthrough in tackling the growing menace of synthetic drugs in the city.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to sourcing synthetic drugs from Kerala and using social media platforms to take orders. The contraband was delivered through an online logistics company to conceal their activities.
Investigations revealed that the operation was masterminded by Amir Khan, who continued to run the network from inside Bengaluru Central Jail. Despite a police raid at the jail, no electronic devices were found, though Amir reportedly used a smuggled phone to stay in touch with his network.
Fayaz and Gautam initially worked under Amir Khan, procuring drugs and distributing them across the city. After Amir's arrest, they assumed control of on-ground operations, expanding the network further.
This Bengaluru crime news highlights the ongoing efforts of Bengaluru police to tackle drug networks and ensure safety in the city.
