A recent poster released by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), portraying Arvind Kejriwal as the ‘lone warrior’ against corruption, has sparked sharp criticism from the Congress party.
The campaign, which features the slogan ‘Ek Akela, Sab Par Bhaari’, has added fuel to an already intense political battle ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections.
Congress spokesperson Abhay Dubey accused AAP of using the poster to divert attention from allegations of corruption. He claimed the campaign reflects Kejriwal’s fear of returning to Tihar Jail.
Dubey criticised the party’s attempt to project its leader as honest while being surrounded by accusations, including the controversial liquor and hospital scams.
The poster in question labels several politicians as ‘dishonest’, including Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi and BJP leaders such as Parvesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri.
The move surprised many on social media, particularly as AAP and Congress were allies during the Lok Sabha elections just months ago.
Dubey alleged that AAP has become the “most corrupt political party in the history of India.” He claimed that several ministers in the party are currently out on bail and suggested they would return to jail once the elections are over.
He pointed to the liquor and hospital scams as evidence of the party’s alleged wrongdoing, calling their recent campaign a desperate attempt to appear credible.
The election campaign in Delhi has grown increasingly heated, with all parties using posters as a tool for criticism and mockery. The rhetoric has reached new heights as the rivalry between AAP, BJP, and Congress intensifies.
Responding to questions about the Congress party’s lack of visible presence in the election campaign, Dubey assured that their central leadership would soon be actively involved.
He revealed that a major event is scheduled in Mhow on January 27, after which leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge would take to the streets to bolster their campaign efforts.
