‘She was asked to send nudes. ’ Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar recently revealed that his 13-year-old daughter was asked to share her nudes while she was playing an online video game. With her presence of mind, she shut off the device immediately, added the actor as he shared the shocking incident in front of the audience, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and senior police officials, at a cyber safety awareness programme held in Mumbai.
Some time after his daughter started playing the online game, the person on the other side asked her where she was from. She said she was from Mumbai. As the game went on, the person continued to send polite messages. Eventually, he asked her whether she was male or female. The actor's daughter replied that she was female. Post this, the person asked her to send her nude pictures to him, after which she shut her phone and narrated the whole incident to his mother.
“She immediately switched off the whole thing (mobile), went to her mother and told her what had happened,” the actor added, while requesting the chief minister to begin cyber awareness in the schools for students of classes 7 to 10 in the state.
"This is how everything begins. It is great that my daughter spoke to my wife about it," the actor said.
"This is a part of cyber crime, where children get carried away. In some cases, people face extortion and many things happen. There are many cases where the victim ends life,” the actor said.
The actor said, “In school, we learn history and maths. We also learn two plus two is four. But in the cyber world that four can become zero. Our children should learn all this. I would like to request the CM that in Maharashtra schools from class 7 to 10, there should be a weekly ‘period’ on cyber safety,” he said.
