In a significant operation, Assam Rifles intercepted a large narcotics shipment in the Salbagan area of West Tripura. The operation led to the seizure of 60,000 Yaba tablets, with an estimated international market value of ₹12 crore.
Two individuals, identified as Kanai Das, aged 36, and Kishan Kumar Sarkar, aged 32, were arrested in connection with the smuggling activities. Both suspects have been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for further investigation and legal proceedings.
This operation reflects the unwavering efforts of Assam Rifles in combatting drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of the region. The seizure also underscores the growing challenge of narcotics abuse and the importance of vigilant action to address this issue.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army, in collaboration with local police and other security forces, has carried out a series of successful operations across four districts in Manipur.
These districts include Churachandpur, Thoubal, Kangpokpi, and Tengnoupal. The operations led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and other warlike equipment.
The intelligence-driven operations were conducted between January 11 and January 14 in various locations. These included Mongjang village in Churachandpur district, Phayeng Hill in Kangpokpi district, Nepali Basti near Kotlen village, and areas in Thoubal district such as Salam Patong and Waithou.
Recovered items include carbine machine guns, single-bore rifles, AK-series rifles, pistols, grenades, ammunition, and other warlike stores. The seized materials have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and necessary action.
